Sonal Holland began her career in the hospitality industry after completing her Diploma in Hotel Management from the Institute of Hotel Management, Dadar, Mumbai after which she worked with the Taj Group and Oberoi Group of Hotels acquiring knowledge in food & beverage in particular.  She holds an MBA from the University of Mumbai and has also completed an Advanced Certificate Course in Management from the leading management institute XLRI, Jamshedpur.

Her business experience was gained with Kelly Services, a US$ 6 billion NASDAQ listed global Staffing and Recruitment Company as the Director of National Sales where she worked since its inception of operations in India until 2007 witnessing its growth from a four member team to 280+ and being awarded the ‘Golden Circle Award’ in 2006 for her achievements.

Sonal’s continued curiosity, interest and passion in wines over the years have compelled her to re-align her career interests. She is highly qualified in wines having pursued wine courses in the UK from the renowned Wine & Spirit Education Trust. Sonal holds the WSET Diploma in Wines & Spirits from London, and is also the first Indian woman to be enrolled into the Masters of Wine (MW) education program, the highest academic achievement in wines.

More recently as an independent wine consultant, Sonal has advised hotels and restaurants on developing new and exciting wine lists, as well as advising international wine companies on India markets and effective launch strategies. Sonal regularly organizes wine tastings for senior corporate clients including Accenture, Unilever and L’Oreal; consulate houses including the U.S. Consulate, Ontario Trade Commission and private high net worth individuals, bankers, politicians, and wine enthusiasts at large.

Sonal is the founder of Sonal Holland Wine Academy launched in 2009 and is an approved program provider of WSET wine courses in India.  She has been on the judging panel of several wine competitions including the recently concluded Sommelier India Wine Competition and India Wine Challenge which was chaired by Robert Joseph.  She has worked closely with the Wine Society of India, chaired by Steven Spurrier, assisting them with wine selections and launching an educational program called ‘Wine and Your Lifestyle’ for its 3000+ members across India.   She has written about wine for many publications including Sommelier India, UpperCrust (a luxury wine food and style magazine), The Mint (Wall Street Journal supplement) and Indian Express among several others.
